Rihanna isn’t known for being shy—in interviews or with her wardrobe options on red carpets.
For her cover story in October’s upcoming Elle, the magazine invited the singer’s famous pals to conduct the interview. Everyone from Pharrell Williams to Eminem had a shot to ask Rihanna anything—and Laverne Cox did us all a huge favor by whipping out a very important question about one of the most iconic looks the Barbados-born star has taken on.
“You’ve had so many iconic fashion moments and take so many risks. The iconic CFDA Awards Adam Selman dress in 2014—what gave you the courage to take that risk that was so perfect and elegant yet daring?” Cox asked the singer.
“Dear Laverne,” Rihanna said. “I took advantage of my titties before they go south. I saw my window, and I took it.”
Cox responded to Rih’s very candid response on Twitter, saying thank you to the singer. “That answer is just perfect. Let’s enjoy these bodies while we have them,” she wrote.
Everyone, of course, was living for the exchange—including activist and author Janet Mock.
I NEED RIHANNA’S CONFIDENCE. She’s so brilliant. 😭❤

I can’t believe this was 2014. Still one of the most iconic fashion moments I’ve seen

This issue of the magazine will be available on newsstands on Sept. 19, where I’m sure Rihanna will have even more hilarious and accurate things to share with the world.
