There’s no question
After recent backlash against the pop star got to a fever pitch, observant fans started wondering why it appeared that thousands of comments on her IG posts were deleted.
First, there were all the snake-related comments and emojis after Kim posted:
An IG rep explained:
“We’re always looking for ways to help people have a positive experience with comments. We’re currently focused on providing tools to improve accounts with the most high-volume comment threads.”
Now Twitter, on the other hand, isn’t so cut and dry.
Their team claims that the #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty hashtag was NOT manually removed from trending topics, instead referring to their site for comment about the incident:
“Trending topics are determined by an algorithm measuring velocity of Tweets about a topic, not overall popularity … Trends are determined by an algorithm and, by default, are tailored for you based on who you follow and your location. This algorithm identifies topics that are popular now, rather than topics that have been popular for a while or on a daily basis, to help you discover the hottest emerging topics of discussion on Twitter that matter most to you.”
So there you have it, apparently.
Seriously, though, what do you think of this new mass-delete tool celebs appear to be getting?!
Big deal to help root out cyber bullying, or is it just preferential treatment for Taylor??
